The  I&M  Canal from I-55 to Buffalo Rock is   open for snowmobiling. 

From Buffalo Rock to Utica is still closed due to a major washout that has not been fixed.

4 inches of snow must be on the trail to be open.

 I&M Canal Trail Rules

 

No Snowmobiling without 4" of snow on the trail.

Stay on the marked trail.

Reduce speed when going through towns.

Do not trespass,  do not liter.

Stay away from private buildings.

Keep the noise level  down.

Never remove or cut down fences, do not tamper with locked gates.

Avoid small trees and shrubbery, etc.

Lock 8 to Gebhard Woods - 7.6 miles

Gebhard Woods to Seneca -10.6 miles

Seneca to Marseilles - 5.4 miles

Marseilles to Ottawa - 6.3 miles

Ottawa to Buffalo Rock - 4.9 miles

Buffalo Rock to Utica - 5.2 miles

Utica to LaSalle (Lock 14) - 4.5 miles

 

Through a joint venture, the I&M Trail is groomed by the IDNR and I&M Trail Council. We  reserve the right to ask those who do not follow    these rules to obey them or leave. We maintain this trail for your riding enjoyment. Please follow these rules. Thank you for your cooperation!
