As we start the new year, it’s nice to announce a couple of new programs that we have.

One is very exciting for us, both ACSA and  the state snowmobile associations.  It is Sleds2Buy.Com – the new website to buy and sell snowmobiles, trailers and ATVs.  You can reach this site through any state snowmobile association’s website or directly through www.sleds2buy.com.

This online classified site has been created especially for outdoor recreationists – for you!!

A portion of the revenue from this project will be distributed to the state snowmobile associations to assist with the on-going safety, education and membership programs.  This new stream of revenue can also assist with the legislative and regulatory challenges the state associations face.

This new website will also enable non-snowmobilers to browse through the recreational equipment at no charge and with no pressure from salesmen.  This may entice non-snowmobilers to become snowmobilers from the more affordable side of used equipment.  This may expand the market for first-time buyers.

Sleds2Buy.Com provides the opportunity for current owners to sell their current equipment -- in order to purchase new!!

This online classified website will also allow dealers to advertise and sell their used and non-current equipment they have sitting at their dealerships.  This may increase the willingness of dealers to accept trade-in snowmobiles, trailers and atvs in the future.

Because a portion of every listing fee supports ACSA and the state snowmobile associations, public awareness and protection of recreation access will continue to be priorities on the national and state levels.

This is very exciting – please take time to check it and let your friends and neighbors know as well.

Another program we have is Adopt a Platoon.  There is plenty of time to do this for Valentines, St. Patricks Day and/or Easter.

Do you know how easy it would be for your club to adopt soldiers?  Do you know how easy it is for you to send them goodies?  Do you have any idea how much those folks would appreciate your kindness?

Consider using the Postal Service's free Military Kit - eight boxes of three different sizes popular for mailing to military personnel, along with mailing labels, tape and U.S. Customs forms. Kits can be obtained by calling toll-free to (800) 610-8734. Choose option 1, and when a live agent responds, ask for Care Kit 4.

To find a platoon, you can contact your State’s Department of Military and Veteran Affairs and speak with the Public Affairs Office.  Tell them what you would like to do and they will give you the necessary information.  Or – you can always call the ACSA office and we will help you through the process.

Think how easy it would be to have a box at your next club meeting…..ask everyone to bring “stuff” to fill the box.  For $8 mailing – you will put smiles on soldiers faces.  And of course, you’ll definitely want to include your club and/or state newsletters and magazines.  Remember – these guys are desperate for reading materials.

Some of these soldiers get care packages from their family members – but many of these soldiers get nothing.  They will be forever grateful to the snowmobile community.  And you are doing a very good deed – taking care of those that are protecting America.

And last but not least, ACSA is trying to arrange some tangible membership benefits.  Some of these will only be available in certain areas or regions, others will be available across the country.  Check our website for deals on office supplies, groceries, gas, credit card processing and others!

Let’s get 2008 started on the right foot…..with all kinds of new things.  Happy New Year!

The American Council of Snowmobile Associations (ACSA) is a national organization that was formed to unite the snowmobile community. Because snowmobiling is enjoyed by millions of individuals across the United States, it was imperative that a strong national organization be formed. ACSA is that organization.

ACSA is your voice for snowmobiling on national issues. Many snowmobilers are mistaken when they think national issues have no impact on their snowmobiling. Across the United States there are thousands and thousands of miles of snowmobile trails on public and private lands. Will these lands remain open for snowmobiling in the future? Long term use of the lands is no longer certain. Only the unified voice of the entire snowmobile community will help to guarantee the continuation of our sport.
