Illinois Snowmobile Charity Report

Over the years, thousands of snowmobilers have demonstrated their concern for others by participating in charitable events. Snowmobile clubs and associations in the United States and Canada raised over $2,100,000 for various charities for the 2006/2007 season.  There are a lot of good hearts out there on the trails!

For the 2006/2007 season 25 Clubs in Illinois reported 6,660 donated man hours and more than $50,000 in donations and contributions.

Everyone can benefit from getting involved with fundraising projects.

  • Projects give club members a sense of unity and purpose.

  • Projects provide activities for you to do.

  • Projects can bring favorable publicity.

  • Projects can attract new members to the club.

  • Projects can involve members of the snowmobiler's whole family

Adopt-a-Highway programs are particularly suited to environmentally conscious groups and citizens, such as snowmobilers. These programs provide an opportunity for snowmobilers to make a personal contribution for a cleaner environment.

Conducting fundraising drives/charitable projects gives your club--and the sport of snowmobiling--positive recognition! The value of a good image image should not be underestimated. Every contribution your club makes to the community builds respect and fosters good will. As land use and other issues important to us and our sport come come to the table, it will be to our benefit to be known as responsible, concerned, caring members of the community.

Each year the IASC asks each club to appoint someone in the club to keep a record of all charity activities your club is involved with.

The annual CHARITY SURVEY is due April 1, 2008.  Click here for a copy of the survey in MS Word.

One suggestion is to involve more of the youth in your efforts. This is a good way to get them involved in your club activities.
