Snowmobile Sales Soar in February
When "Old Man Winter" brings cold temperatures and snow, as we saw in February 2007, snowmobile enthusiasts come out in droves. Recent sales reports from snowmobile dealers across North America report a 31% increase in new snowmobile sales for February 2007 vs. February 2006.
The sales increase in snowmobiles was joined by a dramatic increase in the sale of parts, accessories, garments and more. "It's amazing what happens in this sport when it's cold and snowing," reported a number of dealers.
The positive February sales report is joined by a recent report from Yellowstone National Park, which is reporting that snowmobile visitors to the Park increased 12.3% this year vs. last year. The Yellowstone area was blessed throughout the season with good snow cover and cold temperatures.
We are now receiving tax collection data from Tourism Bureaus around the country and it appears that snowmobile tourists hit the snow in record numbers in February 2007 as well.
Hotels, motels, and restaurants were full across the snowbelt during most of February and we're all confident the folks enjoyed their great family snowmobiling experiences and are looking forward to more time on the snow in the future.
The GoSnowmobiling.org web site, the newest web site created for snowmobilers and non-snowmobilers alike is realizing record numbers of visitations to the site. During the month of February, over 500,000 visits were registered on the web site. Based on the pages visited, it appears many folks were making travel and purchase plans.
The manufacturers are now participating in their spring shows, where they are introducing the 2008 snowmobiles and carrying on the tradition of looking forward to the next winter snowfall.
