Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs and its 86 clubs INVITE YOU to join us as we ride the picturesque scenery of winter snowmobiling in Illinois. When you ride in Illinois, the trails you ride are the trails we provide. Of the 2,500 miles of trails in Illinois, 2,250 miles of those are are private land provided through the efforts of our club members.
The Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs was formed to provide:
Safe snowmobiling
Pleasant riding experiences in Illinois
Family snowmobile activities
Preservation of a trail system
Proper use of snowmobile grant money
Identification of situations that affect organized snowmobiling
Sharing of snowmobiling information
A working relationship with other trail users.
A Legal Action Fund was formed in August 1998 to protect the rights of organized snowmobilers in Illinois. The purpose of this fund is to ensure the future of snowmobiling in Illinois. Our organization carefully follows pending laws and changes that might affect our sport, and then puts our full lobbying efforts into protecting the sport for our members, as well as non-members.
We work with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to provide for legal access for the ever-increasing snowmobiles on public lands. We also work with the Illinois DNR to provide snowmobile safety classes for all interested snowmobilers.
Our clubs spend thousands of hours a year obtaining, cleaning, marking and grooming the trails. We have lots of fundraisers to support the maintenance and upkeep on the trails in addition to the state grant money we receive. Members attend every public meeting where trail issues are being discussed. We are constantly searching for new trails. These hours are put in by volunteers -- snowmobilers who are members of your community --providing trails for your enjoyment.
