Why you should register your sled in Illinois
$45 is the cost to register your snowmobile in Illinois for 3 years. That’s $15 a year. Ok, we are not the snow capital of the Midwest, but when we do get snow, the clubs have trails and groomers ready to make your ride in Illinois an enjoyable one. Your registration fees are administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR). By law, your local clubs have access to 50% of every dollar from your registration. The other 50% is used to fund snowmobile projects for local governments such as park districts that work with local clubs, along with DNR policing and administrative costs.
Every club must pay trail liability insurance yearly to protect the landowners whether it snows or not. Trail markers and bridge materials are paid for by registration funds. Groomer maintenance and operation costs are also paid with these funds.
Please help keep the trails viable in Illinois by registering your sled, as that is the only way we are funded.
